Kenninji (建仁寺) is a Zen temple located just south of Kyoto's famous Gion geisha district. The temple serves as one of the head temples of the Rinzai Sect of Japanese Buddhism, and is ranked third among the five great Zen temples of Kyoto.

So in love with the delicate beauty of kimonos. I was always fascinated by the sophisticated traditional Japanese culture after watching Geisha and finally got to live the dream of being in a kimono! 👘🌺
There are many rental shops available in Kyoto and we found Okamoto Kimono Rental on Google as it boasts a wide array of kimonos alongside its 180 year old history. They have many shops scattered around Kyoto which makes it super accessible. You can pick different Kimono Plans based on your budget. Mine was approximately SGD$80 inclusive of hairstyling. I already had the idea of the serene beauty of Mameha in Geisha, so I picked something understated yet elegant to match the beautiful autumn leaves. The entire process was very swift and professional, 10/10 would recommend.
If you are planning a trip to Kyoto, do add this on your list. It's fun, albeit a little tiring, to walk around in an elaborate kimono whilst experiencing the beauty of Kyoto itself. #WinterGoesToJapan #WinterCWanderlust
i bought at Japanese style Lucky bags at Wagashi shop and Starbucks in Kyoto.Fukudama is sold at Kyoto in Dec.they are traditional design,but it looks like a Monster's Ball of Pokémon.
this time, i bought two types of Fukudama,one is traditional,and another is from Starbucks coffee version.
traditional one has monaka skin that consists with mochi.and fukudama contains cute lucky items or charms.
it's known as Geisha and Maiko's New Year Gift called "Otoshidama".Geisha and Maiko get Fukudama from their customer as new year gift.
traditional Geisha's edible Fukudama costs 3,000yen,and Starbucks coffee Fukudama costs 2,300yen.which Fukudama do you like?;)

Continuing my series about places from my Japan wishlist, where I'd most like to go in Japan, Kanazawa in Ishikawa prefecture's often known as little Kyoto. You can explore historic, preserved streets, see old houses, geisha and samurai districts, Japanese gardens, temples and shrines. In the video I share why I'd like to go there and how to get there on the train from Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya and on the Hokuriku shinkansen (bullet train) from Tokyo. There are lots of things to do: teahouses in Higashi Chaya, Kenrokuen garden, the castle park, Nagamachi the samurai district, Myoryuji (also known as Ninjadera, the ninja temple!), Utatsuyama Park, a sake brewery, kimono rental and where to get gold leaf ice cream. There are also ideas for day trips from Kanazawa around the Chubu region.

Here's how I spent 4 nights in Kyoto - I'll talk you through my itinerary, the hits, misses, highlights and where I'd go if I went back. Including must-see major sights like Kinkakuji (the golden temple), Fushimi Inari Shrine, southern Higashiyama, Kiyomizudera, Gion (the geisha district), the bamboo forest at Arashiyama and day trips to Hiroshima and Miyajima. At the end there's advice about where to stay and how to get around on the trains, subway, bike and buses, and where's walkable in Kyoto.
